Robert began piano study at age 5, organ study at age 10 and was appointed to his first church music position at age 15. At age 16 he received a full artist’s scholarship to The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia where he studied organ performance with Alexander McCurdy and John Weaver. He has also studied organ with Cherry Rhodes and conducting with Greg Smith at The Peabody Institute in Baltimore.
He has performed with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra. the Baltimore Symphony, the North Carolina Symphony, and held a wide variety of church positions working with adults and children.
Forty years of training and experience have produced effective techniques in a variety of liturgical and musical environments, an expanding knowledge of music of the church, and valuable occasions for personal and spiritual growth. Enabling God’s people to participate in something beyond ourselves, to know God’s love and to offer our finest response: this is our high calling and great reward.
