Our New Family Member: GCH SILVER Northgate’s Power Play
Oshie was bred by Maurisa Payne (Northgate English Springer Spaniels). He was born on June 16, 2018, the year the Washington Capitals won their first Stanley Cup, and named after the team’s right wing player, #77, TJ Oshie. Following the hockey theme, his registered name became Northgate’s Power Play. His sire is GCH Cambrian N Northgate’s Retroactive (aka Jack) and his dam is Northgate’s Call Me Star (a Titus granddaughter, sired by CH Brightwater Suncoast Trek To Northgate who is a Slick son).
Oshie came to us under the most heartbreaking circumstances: the untimely death of his owner/breeder Maurisa Payne on July 4, 2022. This post is a tribute to Maurisa and the amazing accomplishments of her beloved shining star under superb professional handlers Angela Lloyd, Jon Corcoran, and Kelly Shupp.
Oshie – you were named after a team of champions, and you haven’t let me down as you’ve exceeded all of my expectations as a champion! Looking forward to the future with you as we set more goals to accomplish! Let’s Go Oshie!

Oshie’s New Home
It is an honor and a joy to have this wonderful boy as a loving member of our family! Oshie is now retired, but just as he exceeded Maurisa’s expectations in the show ring he has exceeded our expectations as a family member, along with his half-sister, Marvel (Northgate’s Twinkle Star CGC). His new adventures have just begun. Let’s Go Oshie!
